Waypoints are one of the simplest resources in Dragon Age, but they are used extensively for a wide variety of tasks. They are a means of marking a specific point (and facing) within an [area] map.

Waypoints and their location on the map can be seen in the menu on the left hand side of the area editor:

Selecting and double clicking on a waypoint will take you to that waypoint’s location on the map, provided that “Show waypoints” is toggled on in the toolbar. Waypoints are shown as little red and blue flags:

Waypoints have only a few properties.

The waypointtypes [[2DA]] defines which options are available in the MapNote type property and which icon is shown for each type that's available. It's a simple 2DA with the following columns:
*ID
*Label - the name of the type, shown in the dropdown menu in the toolset
*Icon - an image resource name that contains the mapnote's icon.
